Unique Challenges at Highland Park Middle School
Highland Park Middle School, located in the heart of Dallas, has limited space available around the school for outdoor athletic facilities. The conversion to a synthetic turf field at HPMS brought a unique challenge as the natural grass field being replaced sits on top of an underground parking garage. Heavy equipment was not permitted, so excavation had to be done carefully and intentionally to prevent any damage to the parking garage. The final project resulted in a newly installed Shaw Sports Turf Legion Pro synthetic turf field, with a Schmitz ProPlay 20 pad, and a PTS 4000 sandwich running track system.

bradfield elementary’s synthetic turf conversion
Bradfield Elementary in Highland Park ISD wanted to have a consistent, more durable surface for their students to play on each day, as well as provide opportunities for local youth teams to practice after school and on the weekends. The field features over twelve trees planted inside of the turf field, providing shade and natural elements to the overall project. Highland Park ISD chose the same turf system for Bradfield Elementary used at Highland Park Middle School: Shaw Sports Turf Legion Pro turf on top of a Schmitz ProPlay 20 pad.
