With the onset of cooler temperatures here in Texas comes a reminder that your natural grass field program may need some adjustments to get through the colder months and give you a running start when the warmer temps return next spring.
The activities outlined below should be on your radar through the fall/winter months regardless of sport:
- Pre-emerge (unless overseeding)
- Overseed
- Fertilize (early fall or in winter if overseeded field)
- Post-emerge (as needed)
- Irrigation system check
- Monitor for armyworms
With the cooler temps come certain considerations to ensure your baseball and softball fields are ready for season to start soon after the holidays so make sure the following are on your to-do list for your diamonds:
- Repair / rebuild mound and home plate areas
- Remediate lips
- Add infield clay and conditioner
- Re-align bases
Through our natural grass division, we offer all these services to make sure your fields are ready for, and pull-though, the cooler months. We can work with your team to build, renovate, and maintain your natural grass field year-round and can help keep your field game ready.
