The 11-year partnership between Azle ISD and Paragon Sports Constructors was further strengthened when the school district selected PSC for its recent stadium and tennis complex renovations. The projects focused on expansion and innovation, ensuring the district would have the necessary facilities to accommodate growth for years to come.
expansion: 8-lane running track
Azle ISD wanted to expand their seven-lane running track to eight, accommodating for their continued growth as a school district. To adjust for the extra lane, Paragon removed the existing track and outside curb, built a solid foundation with excavation and lime stabilization, and installed concrete curbs, drainage, and track surfacing. The running track features Paragon Track Surfaces 2000 spray coat system, a paved-in-place permeable system of polyurethane-bound rubber granules topped with two layers of spray coat material. innovation: game on turf performance system
Eleven years after the original synthetic turf installation at Hornet Stadium, Azle ISD enlisted the PSC team once again to replace their field with Shaw Sports Turf’s Game On synthetic turf. Game On technology offers a new approach to turf manufacturing where logos, lines, and numbers are tufted together into the turf panel, allowing fewer cuts in the field during installation, and more opportunities for creativity in field design. Learn more about Game On fields around Texas here. The Hornets also elected to install a performance system consisting of a Schmitz Pro Play shock pad and blended infill layer featuring GeoFill. This system provides head-to-toe safety and performance for all athletes while also providing the option to cool the field via the GeoFill material on hot days.

expansion: court surfacing
Azle’s tennis facilities were also due for expansion to better serve their student-athletes and competitions. Azle ISD enlisted Paragon to construct two new court batteries to add four tennis courts. This required new retaining walls along perimeter to ensure a level and stable surface for play. Upgrades included new bleachers, windscreens and netting. The existing light poles were upgraded to LED and six new poles were installed to ensure consistent lighting across all courts.
